Wildlife’s Homeland 

Usually called “The Rainbow Nation,” country South Africa is most ethnically manifolded. With rich culture, South Africa is also gifted with panoramic mountainscapes, beaches, caves, hill trails, and wildlife. Here are some wildlife activities/parks you must visit when in South Africa.

  • Big 5: The predatory animals like Lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalos are known as the big 5 of South Africa. These animals play a vital role in managing the ecosystem and maintaining the food chain. Kruger Park is South Africa‘s largest wildlife sanctuaryThey offer rides to the forests starting in the morning to late at night. Early morning rides, guided trails, and night safari are the most common rides that take place in a day. You can book safaris beforehand to avoid the late-minute hassle. In some wildlife parks, you get to go near lions and leopards and get a picture clicked under the supervision of forest guards. 
  • Mapungubwe National Park: Located beside rivers, this park has a wide range of mammals and birds. Over, 400 species of birds are found here, so keep your binoculars ready when you visit here. Apart from birds, mammals like a hyena, zebra, waterbuck, giraffe, pig, baboon, etc. are found near rivers and on land. Giant lizards and a variety of exotic snakes are often seen during the ride around the park.
  • Pitch of Ostrich: Oudtshroon town is well-known for its vast range of ostrich farms and ostrich feather industry. The tour takes almost 1-1.5 hours, where you get a thorough guide about ostrich farming. You can end your tour with ostrich rides(subject to weight limit) on some of the Oudtshroon’s farms and buy ostrich-material souvenirs. Don’t forget to take your camera to click cool pictures of the ostrich and its eggs.
  • Happy feet-The Penguins: African penguins are only found southern-west coast of South Africa. Boulders beach is famous for friendly penguins and swimming. They often come close to some meters of the tourist. Though they look all cute, try to maintain distance as they are wild animals. Did you African penguins are called Jackass Penguins because they sound like a donkey’s call?

Well, South Africa is heavily diverse in terms of wildlife, yet many steps are taken to protect the wildlife. It is the land of many creatures like rodents, moles, shrews, bats, carnivores, elephants, and hoofed animals (like zebras and antelopes).
